Cold Higham Valuation Day

Kate Bliss, Hansons Auctioneers Jewellery Consultant and seen on Bargain Hunt, consigned to auction a 19th century Castleford Teapot at their July valuation day. This exciting teapot is one of many unusual and rare antiques which were brought to Hansons at Cold Higham Village Hall.

Valuers Kate Bliss and Sonia Jackson were kept busy from 1- 4pm; Sonia said 'this has been another successful day, we expect to achieve good prices for this and many other items consigned and we look forward to the valuation day in August'.

Charles Hanson of Hansons Auctioneers known to many from his appearances on Bargain Hunt remarked, ' we are always excited by the items which can turn up at our valuation days in Cold Higham. It is a delight to rustle through paper packaging and discover objects which often have sentimental as well as monetary value'.

Hansons of Etwall, Derbyshire, will hold their next valuation day at Cold Higham Village Hall on 14th August from 1pm to 3.30pm.

Pattishall Parish Jubilee Fete Review

Pattishall Parish Jubilee Fete Review

A great day that will be remembered as the way the parish celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  The floats started the proceedings off with their tour around the villages. The Pre-School kings and queens had perfected their hand waving, the Mad Hatter and friends from Eastcote were enjoying their tea party, a lorry load of pupils from Pattishall School charted six decades of the Queen’s reign and those smiling Year 6 girls completed the procession.

Pattishall School opened the event with dancing around the may-pole and singing, then on to the games and stalls.  On the stage we had line dancing from The J & S Dance Ranch followed later by a demonstration of karate skills from the Hyodokan Karate and Self Defence group.   Music throughout the afternoon was provided by Retro Disco.  All the refreshment stalls and teas provided sustenance on a grand scale, not to mention the beer and Pimms tent to quench those thirsts.  Councillor Ben Smith supported the event with a £600 donation for the Children’s Activity Bus.

The weather was kind to us, apart from a couple of light showers and the usual wind, but it did not daunt the spirit of the event.

The souvenir programme will be an item to keep - the winning number was 77. There are still a few left so if you would like one at 50p each, or perhaps several to give to children, friends, family, as keepsakes please contact Nigel Banister on 01327 830515. The amount raised has not been finalised yet but looks to be in the region of £1,500 for the Parish Hall and Playing Field.  A great result with a good time had by all.

Many thanks to everyone involved.
